A SONG OF THANKSGIVING
Psalm 100:1-5

Pastor William Underwood
As Christians, we believe that our world is the result of a conscious
creative act of God. It is the design of an intelligent and loving
Creator Who knew what we would need before He created man. He knows the
needs of His creatures and He watches over them and provides for them. He
even has stores of resources that man has not yet tapped. The Psalm
writer reminds us that we live in God's house and we need to thank Him
for all His provision for us. There are some things that we need to
remember at Thanksgiving time.
I - We need to remember that we are not independent.
A- This generation thinks that we do not need God.
1-We want to think that we can do anything we want at any time we want to
do it.
2-We only take the materials that God has created and we work with them
within His laws.
3-With all our discovery and wisdom we still do not understand many
things about God's creation.
a-Our solar system is so vast that we do not know how huge it really is
yet.
b-We are still discovering huge resources that God has placed in the
earth for our use.
c-Medical science is still discovering mysteries of the human body.
4-We are all debtors to God and we cannot exist without depending on His
provision for us.
II - We must remember that we are only tenants on earth.
A- We cannot claim to own the earth for we did not create it.
1-We must live like tenants and nor like owners.
2-God can remove us from this environment at any time.
3-We do not even control our own life. - God does it!
4-Our food supply can be cut off with just a severe storm.
5-We have no control over the forces of nature.
B- We must remember that we depend on God for all things.
1-One storm can destroy everything we think we own.
C- We are only stewards of God's blessings in our lives.
III - Personal faith in a Living God is essential to us.
A- None of us has ever seen God face to face.
1-He reveals His love to us by His provisions for us.
2-His gifts prove that He is good, and kind, and loving.
3-God reveals Himself to us in the small and simple things of life.
4-God designed and created the world for our benefit and enjoyment.
B- We should not take God's blessings for granted.
1-Thanksgiving Day was designed for our nation to take time to remember
and thank God for all His blessings.
2- Read - Luke 12:27-31
3-IF God stopped supplying our needs what would we do?
4-We may not be
able to count all of His blessings, but we can be thankful for His daily
care and provision.
5-It is better to be thankful every day than to wait for one day in the
year to be thankful.
Let us remember that we are totally dependent on God for all our daily
needs. We could never survive without His provision.
Remember to be thankful for all His blessings to us.
